I am excited to be pursuing my dream of attending midwifery school. Midwives are the traditional care providers for birthing persons and infants. Midwives are associated with the best maternal and infant outcomes.
Midwives follow the Midwives Model of Care. This includes:
- Monitoring the physical, psychological, and social well-being of the birthing person throughout the childbearing cycle.
- Providing the birthing person with individualized education, counseling, and prenatal care, continuous hands-on assistance during labor and delivery, and postpartum support.
- Minimizing technological interventions.
- Identifying and referring those who require obstetrical attention.
